It happens when we stop chasing and trying to love outer experiences and things. It does not mean we abandon our life. Rather, it is seeing it for what it is: transient. Then we start to turn inward and we must meet the marginalized aspects of our self. If we persevere through this, we get a glimpse of the Inner Beloved. Once felt, a natural love for It blooms and true devotion ensues. Then one pursues It internally to the exclusion of all other things; while allowing outer life to go on unobstructed.
